چکیده

Sustainable socio-economic development largely depends on the sustainability of energy supply from economic, environmental, and public health perspectives. Fossil fuel combustion only meets first element this equation is hence rendered unsustainable. Biofuels are advantageous a perspective, but their environmental economic might be questioned considering conflicts surrounding feedstocks, including land use change vs. food conflict. Therefore, it imperative to put more effort into addressing downsides biofuel production using advanced technologies, such as nanotechnology. In light that, review strives scrutinize latest developments in application nanotechnology producing biodiesel, promising alternative fossil diesel with proven benefits. The main focus placed applications feedstock stage. First, findings concerning nanomaterials nanofertilizers nanopesticides improve performance oil crops presented critically discussed. Then, most results reported recently applying boost biomass by microalgae facilitating harvesting reviewed mechanistically explained. Finally, promises held enhance animal fat livestock, poultry, aquaculture systems elaborated. Despite favorable features biodiesel production, presence nanoparticles living also associated important challenges, which covered discussed work.

Biodiesel production: a review

Biodiesel has become more attractive recently because of its environmental bene®ts and the fact that it is made from renewable resources. The cost of biodiesel, however, is the main hurdle to commercialization of the product. The used cooking oils are used as raw material, adaption of continuous transesteri®cation process and recovery of high quality glycerol from biodiesel by-product (glycerol...

Waste Cooking Oil as an Alternate Feedstock for Biodiesel Production

As crude oil price reach a new high, the need for developing alternate fuels has become acute. Alternate fuels should be economically attractive in order to compete with currently used fossil fuels. In this work, biodiesel (ethyl ester) was prepared from waste cooking oil collected from a local restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Ethyl alcohol with sodium hydroxide as a catalyst was use...
